President & CEO of Bentley Walter Lamothe receives Retail Council of Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award  

Bentley is delighted to share President & CEO Walter Lamothe’s recent accomplishment in receiving the 2024 Retail Council of Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This prestigious recognition celebrates remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to the retail sector. Bentley & Co LTD’s current successes stands as a testament to Walter’s staunch dedication and leadership, underscoring why the company continues to thrive in the dynamic world of retail.   

Mr. Lamothe’s journey in retail began during his youth, developing an acute sense of customer care by selling door-to-door fresh produce from the family farm. His passion and commitment to serving others quickly propelled him to managerial roles in the retail industry, showcasing his innate leadership abilities. By 21, he was managing a Tip Top Tailors store in Hull, Quebec, demonstrating early signs of his exceptional capabilities.

With a career in the retail sector spanning over 30 years, Mr. Lamothe was appointed President & CEO of Bentley in 2018, where he embarked on a mission to strengthen the company’s operations. Under his visionary approach and strategic foresight, Bentley underwent a successful restructuring effort, positioning the company for sustained growth and resilience.

Notably, Mr. Lamothe’s leadership was put to the test during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which presented unprecedented challenges for the travel industry. Undeterred, he navigated Bentley through turbulent times, demonstrating creativity and perseverance. His proactive measures, including the introduction of new product lines, ensured the company’s continued success amidst adversity, while earning him widespread acclaim within the retail community.

Throughout his notable career, Mr. Lamothe’s trajectory was marked by significant achievements and milestones. Diane J. Brisebois, President & CEO of the Retail Council of Canada, lauded Mr. Lamothe’s exceptional contributions to the industry, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to excellence. Highlighting his generosity and willingness to support fellow industry professionals during challenging times, Ms. Brisebois stated “Walter’s illustrious and long career serves as a testament to his steadfast dedication to the Canadian retail industry”.   

As Mr. Lamothe continues to inspire and lead by example, his impact at Bentley and the retail industry at large remains profound and far-reaching. Mr. Lamothe will receive the award at the Retail Council of Canada’s Excellence in Retailing Awards Gala on May 28th, 2024, at the Toronto Congress Centre.
